2007 Mahindra 5500 4WD
I have the 5500 w/FEL. I just started noticing a grinding kind of noise in the front end only when it is in 4WD. I take it out of 4WD and it stops. It seems to only be when I turn to one side or the other and not when the wheels are straight. I have about 30 hours on it. Any ideas? On another note while greasing everything I noticed what looks to be grease fitting one on the top of each rear axle. I did not see these in the manual. What are these for and how often should I grease them if that is what they are?

Contact your dealer on this...I've not experienced this on my 6000 but sounds like you may not have it all the way in 4 wd, if that's when you hear/feel the ginding. Your linkage for 4wd may need an adjustment. I wouldn't use 4wd until your dealer checks it out...BobG in VA

I have the same problem. I have a 5500 FWD with FEL. I have 20 hours on mine usually leave it in FWD 75% of the time, because I use my loader a lot. First noticed it the last time I used the tractor a couple of weeks ago, as I was finishing up stacking a bunch of cedars. I wear hearing protection when I work and have no idea how long it's been making the noise.

Have the dealer check it out. My 6000 has never made any noise in 4wd. It sounds like it could be the linkage not engaging it all the way like Bob G said.

I talked to my dealer, and he said he had no idea as to what it could be. He has never heard of any others having this problem. Because my dealer is so far away(85 miles) and he will have to come and get it, he said just to keep using it until something actually breaks. It has 3 years of warranty so just wait until we can actually tell what is wrong before I have to pay 200 bucks for him to come and get it.

If it were me I'd get it fixed sooner than later.

According to the Mahindra website you have a dealer (Abby Farm Supply) 23 miles away from you in Walnut, MS. Mahindra says if you live over 75 miles away from the dealer you purchased it from you can take it to your nearest dealer for warranty work.

It is probably just gearbind due to the front/back mismatch when turning. My 7520 does it.

Those people were not exactly fun to deal with, that is why I bought my tractor from another dealer. I talked to the dealer in Walnut first before buying where I did. Got a lot better deal and much nicer to deal with where I bought it.

"Fun" should not enter the picture when it comes to making money/staying in business. Give the guy a call....if he turns his nose up to doing any warranty work for you, guess where you come and let the rest of the world know it...MUSA will then probably give the idiot a call and let him know that he better play nice if he wants to continue to sell his product......Can I get an AMEN from MUSA????BobG in VA
