Is there a generally simple way to define how much change or improvement there is between the models? For instance, I have a '99 4200 hst...how much improvement went into the 4210? (large chunkgeneralization-wise)

It all depends on what you like. If you like bells and whistles and electronics then alot changed. If you just like good old fashioned tractors then not much. The drivetrain is pretty much the same. What was added was electronically controlled hydro, electronic hydraulics, electronic cruise control etc. They made some hookups a little easier but nothing you couldn't get with a freedom hitch or something like it. If you like running your tractor with just plain good old fashioned common sense stick with your 4x00. I had a chance to trade at their cost for a 4610 but didn't because of all of the electronic gadgets and I didn't want a hydro. But there definitely are more toys on the new ones!!

I agree with Cowboydoc in general. In the case of the 4200 to 4210, however, they did add 2hp on the new model to go from 26 to 28 hp.

I think I'll tell my 4200 that it's OK not to haveall the new stuff and to appreciate a K-I-S-S.

I have a '99 4300, and do like (and wish for) some of the features of the 4310 (would actually go to the 4410 if ever), but only think about them when I am 'confronted' with the 'old' technology (no anti-stall, etc). But I will continue to stick with the 4300 which has been trouble-free and a great 'friend'. But 'old' is old, and 'new' is 'the latest'.

The 2200 does look good to me and since it has a folding ROPS, that would eliminate one big head ache I have when going up on my trailer intthe garage. But my 4100 is continuing to do the trick for mowing, snow plowing and fertilizer/lime/weedandfeeding, so I guess I will have to get a bigger garage.

I am between the 4410 and 4310, Everyone keeps pointing to the 4310, as it is the same in all except a few foot pounds. What makes you think you'd go 4410? I really don't want to widh I'd moved up...

If your tractor driving is as much for enjoyment as it is about getting work done, you will be very happy with a 4310. The load match function on the hydro is a great equilizer and the tractor will perform just as well as a 4410 in most situations. However, if you use the tractor to make money or want to get things done in a hurry, I really think you would be glad you paid the extra for the additional HP. You can really tell a difference between the two tractors when traveling in road gear, driving up steep hills, or mowing in heavy grass. When you are in the 25 or so HP range a few more HP makes a difference. On the other hand, I find it more difficult to tell the difference in performance between a 4610 and 4710.
