I have a 4X2 Gator about 6 years old. Yesterday I was dumping trash,, shut the engine off, finished dumping, and immediately thereafter it won't crank now. NOTE: It's not that it cranks but won't start, it just won't crank PERIOD. Complete silence. It has always worked perfectly up until yesterday, with no symptoms of anything going wrong.

My question is: WHERE are the fuses for the starting circuit ? I looked under both seats, and under the front panel but saw nothing resembling a fuse box.

And if its not the fuse, any other suggestions ? The key switch seems okay, as the dumper operates and a light shows on the panel when its on. And the battery I'd guess is okay also, since it dumps fine. I don't hear any starter solenoid click (and assume there is one)- could that be it if it isn't the fuse ?

Thanks for any help.

The only time that has happened to me is when I shut it off with it still in gear. Make sure it's not the neutral switch.

I have a 2006- one of the last ones before they started getting too complex.
I ended up taking it to the dealer repair and in 5 minutes they diagnosed it as a low battery. So my lesson has been learned: even with 12.5V on the battery AND that it was dumping just fine apparently under load that's not enough to crank the engine.
And BTW I got my question answered. There was NO "fuse box" in my model. Just a "fusible link" in a wire coming from the battery to around where the solenoid is- a little hard
to find since it looks like the wire but is just a little bit fatter where the little fuse link is. I NEVER would have found it but it didn't make any difference since it was the battery.

just saw this thread and was ready to reply "no fuse box and replace the battery". Sorry didn't see it when you posted.
Glad it is fixed, and I have the 4x2 Gator and replaced the battery two years ago.

Since '99, it has been one fine running machine. Pride of the grand kids (and me :D).

This is an old thread, but I have one of these old gators. I love it, but lent it to someone and just got it back. It won't crank. Not only that, but no lights, and no response to anything electrical. Battery appears to be good. Since nothing electric works, I can't figure out where to even start. Fusible link would explain the no cranking, but as I read the schematic, that would not prevent lights from coming on. Anyone else still have one of these?

start where you have voltage, and keep moving up the line till you don't. simple.

Normally a fusible link is in series with the battery and kills everything or you have second wire attached to the battery going to a relay of fuse box.
Use jumper cables to see if you get lights.

Also a battery can have corroded connection and appear to be good but not enough current, I would first disconnect the battery to check the battery post.

Suggest you load test the battery and clean the battery cable ends (both). Let us know if still dead in the water.

Thanks for the replies. I found my manual on it and was getting ready to start troubleshooting when the temperature dropped below freezing. LOL. I think I will wait a day or two.
