Hi All,
I was reading through some posts and I realized that I promised to follow up on my leaf blower/truckloader project. Some of you out there were particularly helpful as I was weak from pneumonia (back on my feet now), especially Hizoot, EMB, & beenthere.
Unfortunately, this did not have a happy ending. I got the blower/vac attached with a rig I put together. I went over to my neighbors, raked leaves for an hour to get several nice large piles and then fired up the zebra. I got about half-way through my first pile and the blower engine quit very abruptly. Literally one second it was running and the next second it had stopped cold. I went over to try to restart it, but the cord would not pull--the engine had seized up. So the machine did in fact work and eagerly sucked up the piles of leaves. It also chopped them nicely and with the canvas bag open but blowing into the trailer, I was getting a nice collection of leaves without a leaf tornado--and then it all ended!
We probably won't have a new leaf blower in the foreseeable future due to unexpected expenses, but I wanted to let all those curious as to what exactly happened. I also wanted to thank all of those who contributed to my sometimes hair-brained ideas, especially as I was physically taxed from illness. So thanks all, I appreciated every response to my posts/projects and some of your insights did take tangible form in the final product.
With much gratitude,
