I am buying a 2002 3010 which has only 24 hours on it. The tractor was originally purchased in July 2002. From what I understand, the oil, filters... should be serviced at 50 hours. Since I am buying this from a dealership should I ask them to do the 50 hour service now or should I wait til the clock strikes 50.

Wait until 50 hours but have them do as part of the purchase.

Yeah wait till 50 hours, if the dealer will do it fine, otherwise, it can be done with a little knowledge yourself. Instead of Super UDT, you can substitue UDT.

The rationale for the early 50H fluids/filter change is to
purge whatever manufacturing swarf/abrasive dust which escaped
final cleaning, and get it out of the system in advance of
the normal 200H change. Unless you are planning on doing
another change again at the actual 50H point, I'd let the
filters catch whatever else they may and just follow the
recommended schedule.

I would check with your dealer as to the use of super udt or just udt. If you are planning on using the tractor in cold (sub-freezing) weather then you might want to consider the use of the super udt. It might be a potential warranty issue if you are still covered....just food for thought.

Yes, changing oil and filters is something I have done before - more times than I would like to remember /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif In fact even on a diesel rig. I own a 1984 Ford F250 Diesel - it just keeps goin and goin and goin..

Regarding Super UDT and UDT. This is new to me and I will check into it but I live in RaTs neighborhood so if its good enough for his rig...

Thanks, I would imagine the details are in the owners manual.

SandyC, hey, this is Northern California, it gets down in the 30's a few times, but rarely do we even get ice. I built a home in Maine near Camden. I was there from June to October before I left. Folks there called me a chicken. I said what, why? They said leaving before the cold hit is not experiencing Maine. I have to say it was one of the most pleasuable experiences I have had, what a great, friendly place. I hope to return and see it again. Rat...

I'd wait n the 50 and see if any more tranny junk comes loose. Have them do an oil change now. It's time for one of those in my book. Then just do it again at the 50.
