50 Hour Service Costs

I thought it might be of interest to list what I just paid to have the 50 hour service done, at my home, on my TC25D. The labor not only includes the 50 hour service, but also travel time (about 2 hours), welding on 3 hooks, sharpening the blades and installing a block heater. There was no charge for the block heater since I had already purchased one.

I don't know about filter prices but
5 gal. of 134D oil is 28.66
3 gal. of 134D oil is 23.04 ???
Next time get 2 5 gal. buckets and keep other for
topping off when needed.

I'm sure glad I did mine myself. Total cost for parts (TC18) $89 I only bought one gallon of 134 oil as I just changed the filters.

I have not faced the 50 hour service yet, but with two hours travel and the items you had done it would seem very fair.

The dealer did mine for the cost of the parts ~$100.
This was part of the deal for the tractor, and included about 2 hrs travel time to and from my place.
However, mike it sounds like you got a good deal if you consider the blade sharpening, welding, and heater install.

The reason I bring it up is its a good way to get a little more out of the dealer.
After that 50hr service I was on my own, except for any waranty work.

Mike, I wasn't sure until I checked my owner's manual on my 45D, but my maintenance schedule does not list changing the HST transmission oil as an item on the 50 hr check. It only lists changing the filter (trapped, loose particles during manufacture?). At 300 hours the fluid gets changed. Does your 50 hr service on a 25D include the fluid? You may have spent that $50+ dollars earlier than needed. ...just curious

I just checked and our service schedules are the same, they didn't need to change the HST fluid. /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif Guess they have their own dealer defined 50 hour service. Perhaps the technician saw something that caused him to change it. If so, he didn't mention anything to me.

I just completed the 200 Hr service checklist on my TC29D, which includes the 100 hr. and 50 hr. checklists. The filter prices you list are close to what I paid, but having the dealer do the service - WOW! /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif

Unless it is included with the deal for the tracor, I would encourage all to do the service yourself. The owners manual is not great, but does lead you through the bleeding obvious to get the job done. It took me two afternoons of leisurely tripping throught the book, getting dirty, and loving every minute. I'm not fast but I feel I get a good look at what is happening to my Boomer. I also know the things I wanted were done without looking over someone else's shoulder.
