I'm coming up on this service and would like to know what others recommend as far as fluids go and also filters that are comparable to MF. Don't need to spend a fortune on dealer stuff!!! Anyone have any suggestions???

The only aftermarket filter I have found so far is a NAPA engine oil filter 1360, the problem is no one stocks it, and the price is about the same! So, unless it is much easier to buy it from NAPA I'm not sure it is even worth worrying about. If anyone has any other cross references I would also be interested in them.
Don't forget the suction screen for the trans. located behind the left wheel. and the front axle oil when you do your 50hr.
If you have not had the backhoe off you are about too. Make sure you connect the two hoses from the tractor together after removing the hoe, before you start the engine. Consider purchasing 12'' extension hoses and put them on the hydraulic hoses when you reconnect the hoe it makes the job much easier to have these hoses a little longer.
I have been using AMSOIL synthetic in the engine, trans., and front axle. It costs more but, has much better specs. especially in low temp. situations.
(i.e. easier starting and little or no warm up needed).

Do you have the part number or such for the AMSOIL you are using? Is it the
same oil for engine/trans/axle ? As permatron is meant for all.... thanks :D

I had actually just ogtten off the phone with my dealer and was looking to schedule for the 50hr service (planting time is coming up so I want to give myself a little bit of a headstart). From the way he was talking, you may want to check about putting MF replacement filters and fluids in it for warranty reasons. Not only that but as gay as it may sound, you are supporting your local dealer and Massey as well even if it is a little more money. As far as engine oil goes, Rotella is good stuff and I would stay away from Penz, quaker and the generic versions of. They are a heavy perifin based oil.

Don't know what filter you have, but WIX has a web site that I found a WIX filter air 7 oil for my MF-1020:)

Amsoil makes a synthetic diesel oil that has a TBN even higher than Rotella and is a better lubricant at lower temperatures. All the specs are better than any oil.
They also make a hydraulic trans oil that replaces Permatran. The engine oil is different than the oil in the trans. The trans oil goes in the front axle too.
Amsoil guarantees that you will not void your warranty using their products. They exceed the requirements that are specified in your manuals. You can get more info at their web site. I don't know the address off hand, Google Amsoil. They also have techs that you can answer questions, if you have any about their products.
I will post the exact products I use Sunday, (busy tomorrow).
Of course the dealer is going to try and either convince or scare you into supporting his operation. You have no obligation to him, he is obligated to you.
You just spent 15+K with him! He will be there to stick it too you when you need parts. Wait until you see what some of these parts cost you will not believe it.
Do you own service! The 50hr. is a simple chance to get to know your tractor and check it over in a way only the someone with 15+K invested would do.
The whole job will take about an hour or so and you will save about 50% or more. You can do it yourself with synthetic oil which costs about twice as much, and still be cheaper than they would charge with mineral oil.
Look for loose screws, the grease fittings that they missed on initial prep, check the hydraulic hoses for rubbing on things. One place I have seen on several units is the inside front of the right rear tire.
The hoses are routed along the frame. If they are not placed exactly right the tire will rub on them and they will fail eventually.

I use The following in my GC2300-
Engine: Amsoil Synthetic 10w30/SAE30 Diesel Oil (ACD)
Trans, and ft. axle: Amsoil Synthetic Hydraulic Transmission Oil (ATH)
I also use synthetic grease in all the greaseable fittings.
Most of their products cost around $5/qt. but, can be left in much longer if cost was an issue, making the price difference 0. (They last much longer than mineral oil products).
I change at the regular intervals in the maintenance schedule.

I just did the 50 hour service on my GC2300 12 hours ago.

here's what I used.

Amsoil Premium 5w-40 diesel oil
https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/deo.aspx

Amsoil Synthetic Hydraulic/transmission oil
https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/ath.aspx

I used a wix filter for the oil and the Massey filter for the hydraulics. I also had to buy a new filter screen because I over tightened the screen after cleaning and I broke it!....so be gentle when you put the screen back in.

the ATH goes in the rear case and the front driveline....

good luck.....didn't take too long to do the service.....

I strongly recommend the Amsoil Synthetic 10w30/SAE30 Diesel Oil (ACD). rather than the 5w-40 the ACD has a TBN of 12, (the highest I have seen), you need that in a diesel tractor especially if you run the high sulfur diesel fuel. The sulfur turns into sulfuric acid inside your engine and guess what that does? The higher the TBN the better it is at neutralizing this acid. If you run low sulfur, (I would), it is not as big a concern but, you are still better off with the maximum protection. The 5w-40 has a TBN of 8.
