Under ideal operating conditions, how often should the air in the tires be changed? What type of air should be used? What is the correct moisture content? Oxygen content? Should it be filtered? Should the valve stem be at the 12 o'clock position or 3 o'clock position when filling or at some other position? What is the correct procedure for draining the old air? Please help me with this perplexing issue........

I always change the air once it begins to warm up... It's really bad for any vehicle to be driving in the spring and summer with the winter air still in the tires... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I can't comment on the orientation of the valve stem, I'm just not experienced enough to know if 3:00 is better than high noon /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Believe it or not we actually sold that line to a few folks when I worked at a car dealer... the ol "changing the air" thing... yep.. gotta get that winter air out!

Good Post...

I can believe it because when my Dad had the service station many years ago, we actually had a woman bring her car in for an oil & filter change and grease job and wanted the air changed in the tires because she didn't know how long it had been since that was done.

too funny - the car business generally has a disreputable reputation... and in my 3 years of exposure to - it was very well deserved! I'm in a much more honorable trade now... building information networks so we can keep our inmate population safe and healthy... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

For good air you should go to a local dive shop...It will cost you a little more but it is money well spent

Be sure and buy only synthetic OEM air for your tires that matches the brand of your tractor.

OH and another thought. If you fill your tires with helium will it be more prone to overturn ?

Nope, but if your tractor is too heavy and damaging your lawn when mowing, then it's probably a good idea.
