Having some issues with 5045D, I've been looking at the Starting system wiring diagram (thank ya'll for posting) but still not finding the issue. This has evolved a bit but now something is just going to ground. Here are some of the things I'm seeing.

Remove positive on battery and everything resets, lights work. 12v at battery (had that checked also), 12v both sides of fuse link and at starter. Turn key to start, hear click and nothing else. turn off key and the lights no longer work. 12 v readings at battery, across fuse link but at starter no voltage

So I say this has got to be starter failing to ground when solenoid energizes it and when I take of positive battery cable it resets. New starter installed, same issue.

When key is turned on but not to start, and I put positive battery cable on it sparks (sorta like when your wrench touches frame when tightening battery clamps)

Pulled start relay and neutral relay individually and try again same issue, same sparking when I touch positive cable to positive terminal on battery.

30 amp fuse to key switch is good

Ideas?

Welcome to TBN
Have you cleaned both battery ground cable connections paying special attention to tractor frame connection? Also disconnect the cold start sensor on cyl head radiator hose connection. This cold starter sensor(RE503242) has a long history of failure & shorting out.

Can you post the start system wiring diagram?

any vehicle will spark when the pos cable touches the pos post IF the key switch is on. everything that is turned on by the key is now drawing current which is why it sparks. My first thought is a bad battery -- have it load tested or test it yourself. Sounds like trying to start it drains the battery therefore lights will no longer work

I have experienced this issue but it was blowing a fuse. Disconnected sensor and no more problems. Still have yet to replace sensor.

Already bypassed the cold start earlier last month. - thank ya'll for the input here for that fix

I'll try the ground check next but here in SE TX we have been getting lot's of rain so I have not been able to get work on it. I'll let you know what I find.

cleaned / wire brushed the gound

Put positive cable back on and checked voltage 12.4 at battery, solenoid, fuseable link (both sides) and alternator. Lights / blinkers work.

Go for start, same click and lights etc. do not work anymore. checked voltage key off - 12.4 at all places, key in accessory position - 5 -6 volts at all the above places

checked all fuses in fuse box all good, checked relays to make sure no corrosion etc. all good.

Is there a second fuse area that I'm missing?

check the voltage right on the battery terminals with the key on. if you get at least 12 volts, that's not the problem, but, if it drops well below that, the battery is bad, if the battery checks good, put a meter right on the negative terminal of the battery, and the other terminal of the meter to a good piece of bare metal on the frame. if you get a voltage, then the ground you have is bad.. I'll give further suggestions if this all checks out good..

I woke this am thinking battery also. Nada. 12.4 v key off, 12.4 v key on, 7.4 volts at all locations between the solenoid through alternator.

Look forward to the other suggestions

It sounds like a bad battery, get it load tested.

Or bad cable/connection to have that kind of voltage drop.
