5045e cranking but won’t start

Hi everyone,

We have a 2022 5045e we were using today and it shut off. It has fuel, it will crank, there is a blown fuse, changed it out, keeps blowing when we crank it.

I read a lot about disconnecting the thermistor and have read several threads on here with links to the manual but we cannot find the part to disconnect to see if this is the problem, we have looked everywhere.

I was wondering if anyone with a newer JD could point me in the direction of where it’s at.

It's not a thermistor you're looking for. It's a temp sensor usually found threaded into the thermostat housing. It has a short pigtail with two wires and a harness disconnect. Locate that, unplug it, replace the fuse and try starting it again. If that works, don't reconnect the harness. In fact, I would cut the wires so someone doesn't come along and plug it back in for you.

Has happened to others…cold start circuit came unplugged or was caught by brush. Easy fix.

Part# RE 503242 fixed my 5093E and it is a temperature sensor located on the thermostat housing, with it plugged in it would blow the 20 amp ignition fuse everytime that you turned the key on. Good luck, let us know what fixes it.
