I had to trade my Tier 2 5055E in on the new Tier 4, been waiting for it to regen and it did yesterday with 50 hours on it. My question is this, when I noticed the light on the dash it was 1:17, so I was about done bushhogging but I thought well I will piddle here and there for a few minutes to let it finish the regen. At 2:02 the light goes out. 45 minutes!? Is this the norm on a regen cycle? I was hoping more like 15 minutes or 20 but 45 is a long time. Anybody else have a similar regen time?

Update: Talked to the dealer this morning, He said that is about normal for first regen, some have been an hour, the regens tend to get shorter after the first one but not always.....looks like I may as well plan on 45 minutes and live with it. If only I could find a way to delete this crap and have a normal tractor I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Dumb question but could you use tractor during regen? How do you feel about overall tractor regarding Tier IV?

A dealer I drive by sells dozens and dozens of the 5055E's.

Yes, as a matter of fact you need to use it and as close to wide open is better to keep the exhaust temps up. Had it not been for the light on the dash I would not even have known it was evening going on, just need to run it until it has completed and the light goes out.

As to the Tier IV, the engine is way quieter than the previous model, I was told due to the new injector pump, much, much quieter, big drawback I see is the regen process and having to use the tractor until it is done. You can also do a parked regen where you just park it outside somewhere and it does its own thing, simply cancel the auto regen when it begins and once your done park it somewhere outside and do the manual parked regen where you just let it do its own thing and come back later and shut it off. I think the worst emissions equipment is the EGR, where it recirculates exhaust back into the engine coking everything up.
