I am Rmiked but was rmd8136. The site would not let me log on and would NOT send new PW so I created new acct with different email. Anyway, my 2013 Tier 2 tractor has been great. This week the tachometer started bouncing around. Tx Jim told me where the speed sensor was (timing gear cover). I pulled the electrical connector and it looks fine. I removed the sensor and it looks fine. My dealer is telling me it is usually the instrument panel with moisture damage. My tractor had the fogging up of instrument panel ever since new. There was no recall on my tractor based on serial number. Replacing the sensor is a $35 part and easy to do. Does anyone know what the resistance reading of a good sensor is? My Regional Service Mgr said he would pay for the part ($695) and service call if I paid for labor which is 2-3 hours at $110/hour. Does anyone have any advice? If I paid for all of it I would spend 1100-1200 to get a stable tachometer which is too much. Would be nice if just bad sensor but dealer says usually a sensor does not fail in an erratic way? Thanks in advance for any advice.
