Parents and I are seriously looking at a 5083e and had some questions on pricing. Dealor quoted me $40,500 (includes FEL). Seems like a decent price. Parents getting in their late 60's really want a Gator XUD 850D (current MSRP 11,500) and the cab on the tractor. Really would like to know a good stance to take in trying to bargain for both. We are very blessed and will be able to do this but don't want to be hosed in the process. Anyone have any advice in the direction to take with the dealor? What would be a good deal?

Background:
Recently parents inherited land after a long legal fight with some family members. We ended up with 160 acres (100 arces usable terraced land) with many ruts, lots brush (wild plum), and a few little ponds. A lot better than the 100 acres the "family" was trying to make us take. Sorry I am just a little bitter still. It was been 10 years since the land was properly taken care of (5 years of uncle taking farm over while grandfather was sick, he only took care of the land that he knew he would inherit, then 5 year legal fight). Easy to say I will be using a box blade and sprayer faily often. Can't even explain how much I miss my grandfathers big ol Case tractor, little blue 60's Ford Tractor, and old 70's John Deere Bull Dozer after they were sold at auction. Born out on the farm, ran it for my grandfather (for 15 years) until he got sick. Learned everything I know about farming from him. Took me

(just FYI family used grandfathers money for developing the land and are starting to sell off theirs) I am sure everyone here will probably understand a little of that bitterness . Only way to make it better is get out on a tractor! :D

$40,500 that is a very good price. I paid C$48K for mine when they first came out. Probably around $44K US at the time. My guess Gators have a
higher profit margin, so start with 45K or 46K for both. If he is a volume
dealer, he might go for it. Otherwise 50K is probably your best deal.

For the size of your property I'd probably go with 5093E.

I actually started looking at the 5093e, the dealor actually recommended the 5083e instead, not really sure why. Guess he is trying to clear out some inventory or maybe some repeat business later.

Go to the Deere site and get the list price by clicking on "Build Your Own." You should easily be able to get 8% off of that. Some dealers will give as much as 15% or so. Those numbers are for my area. Your area may be different.

Which FEL were you quoted? How many rear SCV's? Today I was quoted $45,000 with the 563 loader and two remotes. It also included a radio:).

I'd be interested in the comparison. Thanks.

It was the 553 FEL, 4 SCV's, and a radio.

Thanks for the info. I believe the 563 loader is about a $1500 addition. But, I only had two remotes quoted compared to your 4, so its probably a wash. You're quote is really good. I haven't found anybody willing to deal at that price:(.

I recently priced a new 5101E with 553 or 563 loader with large HD bucket. The price difference between 553 and 563 was only 700.00 here.

Been looking at 5083 priced at 43600. with 553 and brush gaurd. Thought about adding 2nd scv ,18.4 rears, and reverser modulater. Cost 45000. 40000 sounds like a real good price. My only concern is if it is big enough to handle a 5x5 baler.

I believe only 3 rear remotes are possible on this model, so that's probably 3 mid SCV's for the loader and one rear (which is standard).

As for the price, I haven't priced anything new in a while, so I can only tell you what I've actually seen. I bought my 5101 about a year and a half ago. We bought it with 100 hours on it and paid right around $40,000 for it. That's with the 553 loader, radio, etc. I've also seen another 2010 5101 with 125 hours on it and a 553 loader in my recent tractorhouse issue for $43,500.

A piece of advice, if you're wanting the 5093, go with the 5093. You don't want to get six months down the road and wish for more power. I don't know what the price differences are between the models, but it can't be much. They are all the same tractor, same engine just tuned differently.
