I inquired at a nearby dealer about the price for a new 5083e. The salesman advised me that the new models have increased by $4k

He blamed the increase on the rising price of steel and claimed that the increase is straight from Deere. Can anyone verify this? Last year, the price for the 5083 was in the neighborhood of $36k. Now it is $40k?????

The new model has a lot of changes in the cab and is worth the extra money IMO.

Do you believe it is worth the $4k difference? Other than the console on the right side to house your scv levers, what are the other changes?

Air seat, e-pto, dash actually shows 4wd and pto engagement and the cab is supposed to be quieter. I drove both before I bought. If you plan on spending a lot of hours at a time in the tractor, especially for 3 point hitch work I would say the 12 is worth the extra money.

The changes for 2012 are fairly well documented and pretty much everyone agrees they are worth the $$$. I would think your salesman would know this and quickly run through everything that has bee upgraded/updated for 2012 as selling points for the price increase.

My personal opinion would be find a different salesman that knows what they are doing. Good luck.

Add in another in favor of the 2012. The only difference between the older's and MY12's are the E-hitch and a different engine (as well as some more things, can't remember off the top of my head). They have the same cabs now as well so you get the comfort of the M. The new E's are a lot nicer than the older ones.

This is true. The price I got in august for the 3520 cab was somewhere around 2-4k cheaper than when I purchased in January of this year. Dealer told me it was due to the price of steel. It can change again at any time

Really..? You can get the E-hitch on the e series now? With the remote fender controls, too?

What's different about the engine? Which model?

Thanks.

Whoops! Meant between the M's and E's. The main difference between the M's and E's is the e-hitch, along with a couple other things. Typing without thinking

IIRC, different engines but not 100%
