5085E Y2015
I have a NEW (50 hrs) 5085e 2015Y.

squeeling from rear SCV (selector control valve).... hydraulic lines VIBRATE HEAVILY!!

Particularly "after" the hydraulic oil gets warm it is worse but does it always.
At idle the "rear SCV" has a fairly quite but noticable "clicking", clicks about 300 times per second.
Then as throttle is advanced, starting at 1200 rpm and stopping at 1400 rpm, then quiet until 1800 rpm and then noisy again till about 2100rpm...
The noise from the SCV is a VERY NOTICABLE vibrating/squelling noise.

I have been around a lot of tractors for may years and NEVER had one with this kind of SQUEALING from the hydraulics.

The FUNNY thing is at 1500rpm until 1800rpm the "NOISE IS TOTALLY GONE"!!!

Does anyone else have this modal of tractor who could confirm what "they" here as normal from their SCV on the rear during the above desicribed rpm's.???

Any opinions and/or observations MUCH appreciated.

The dealer and JOHN DEERE company tech says it is normal.
Funny, the JOHN DEERE company tech NEVER SAW MY TRACTOR and yet he says it is normal???????????????????/////

Thanks for the help!!

That is the typical answer you will get from many dealers while under warranty. Go to the dealer and look at another model of your exact tractor and see if it squeals the same. If not then, show the tech and ask him what is wrong with the other tractor because it isn't squealing so it must be something wrong with it (or yours has something wrong). There should not be any hydraulic noise unless something is restricted.
Is the noise full time without anything hooked to the SCV port? or is it just when you have the port in use? If it is when in use, you could have a restriction in the coupling. Try a new coupling.

Thanks for the responses but I absolutely "first" need someone to physically confirm hydraulics are quite on a 2015 5085e.
The noise exists with NOTHING attached to the tractor. (Or if something is makes no difference).
If you place BOTH lift controls into FLOAT then the noise "almost" stops completely.

The JD techs replaced the SVC because when they blocked it off the noise stopped.
That did NOT fix it.
The noise DOES COME FROM the SVC.

The dealer does not have that model.

I just thought maybe somebody in the forum had that modal and could confirm "first" for me that it should make NO NOISE.

Thanks again for the help.

Please respond if possible:

I (you) have a JD 5085e....

Yes it has similar noise.
OR
No, it has no similar noise.

Trying to develop a valid consensus.

Thanks!

5085e 65hrs no noise, did you trace your lines like I suggested?

5085e 65hrs no noise, did you trace your lines like I suggested?

The lines have been traced, pushed pulled and prodded.
Pressure has been applied to each line to see affects, NONE.

Also, the other noise which bothers me may be related....

At idle, when hot, there is a NOTICEABLE "rapping/tapping noise" which raps at approximately 500-600 taps per minute or so. NOT buzzing fast but NOT ticktock slow. Just a constant rap/tap
Like a small hammer tapping from inside.
The noise permeates the entire group of lines but seems to emminate around the rear rockshaft valve control (possibly).
Of coarse that is where several relief valves are located.
Removing the transmission oil fill cap and listening in it returns normal noises and no rapping.
Oil appears to have NO air in it.
Hydraulic supply line AT the hydraulic pump has no unexpected noise. No rapping, no squealing.

All these noises, including the rap/tapping reduce 98% when BOTH selector valves are in FLOAT position.
NONE: All of this is with NO attachments connected to the tractor and loader not mounted.

FYI: The tractor has a DUAL MID MOUNTED SCV as well as the DUAL REAR MOUNTED SCV.

This "rapping/tapping" noise at idle bothers me.
It is VERY easy to hear when oil temps are up to normal operational temps.

If your tractor is at operating temps and you stand behind it at idle, the RAP/TAP is "unmistakable".
Do you have any noise similar to this???

If not then I suspect it may be an indicator of the problem.

Question: Does your tractor have a mid mounted SCV and or loader?

Thanks for the help!

loader and mid scv no noise

Did you get this fixed ?
I didn't buy a used 5085E on account of this squealing noise from the pump AND metal lines.
But I suspected the Hyd filter was plugged even with low hours & starving for full flow of fluid.

Try replacing the filter inside the black cartridge :

Mine does it. Didn't really start noticing it until around 100 hours. I have about 210 on it now. It's kind of a squeeling/cracking/knocking sound whenever I use the SCV (either lever).

I do find that when riding down the road, if I push both SCV's to the float position that it really quiets the cab down. Almost like a rattling of some sort stops, but it is hard to describe the exact sound.

I'm thinking about changing the filter this week and seeing if that does something. Otherwise I guess I'll consider it normal.
