I run a mx10 behind the 5083E and I really enjoy being able to take out some acreage! No economy setting if the stuff is over two foot high though! If your wife has trouble manuvering with something outside the width of the tractor, say along a fence line, dont get a 10 footer, it hangs out well past both rear tires. I think a pull type is more intuitive for a novice tractor operator than a lift type, but you couldn't drag me kicking and screaming back to a pull type unless it was a LARGE bat wing mower. Like another poster mentioned, I have taken out very larger thorn bushes and small trees with it by knocking them over a little with the loader, spinning around and lowering the brushhog down onto the item slowly so that I dont bog it down to much and its amazing how nice it makes that big ugly plant look in little pieces! I would certainly shy away from the 7 footer though but thats my personal preference. Either way, you will have plenty of power to run any of those.

we shredd either with the hay forks or bucket on the loader.that way if something is sticking up out of the ground youll hitt it before the shredder does.

Yeah - been doing that for years. it is amazing how much the visibility improves with the loader off. Now that I will have a couple high capacity tractors I can live with loader being ready at any time.

From an ease of mowing prespective, the 3 point hitch mowers are far easier to maneuver around things than a pull type. If I were going to have my wife run it, I would for sure have her on a 3 point. A pull type is fine if you never want to back them. I have an HX15, and it is a beast, but not exactly easy to move around backwards.
When I had my little 3520 compact tractor, I used a 7 foot 3 point and it had no problem picking it up and swinging it. I would think if you could find an 8ft 3 point, that would be perfect. However even that is no sweat for that tractor. Won't even know its back there.

I have an HX15 as well - it is a lot of work for an inexperienced operator.

3 points seem easy to drive but with hills it can be really easy to high center, etc.

I dont think she is going to be doing much of any backing up. Set the bottom stop on the hydraulic cylinder and let he roll with it.

I also have a MX6 she can put on it if she wants to try out the 3 point action.
