What size type of rear tires are you guys running on your 5103s? I have 13.6-28 Ag tires and it seems like I get stuck a lot. They are like trenchers in the mud.
Would wider tires be an answer?
I am running the "standard issue" tires that came with the 5103/w/loader with liquid ballast done by the dealer, I think they are the 13.6 Ag tires as you described. Sorry I can't recall for sure.
I purposefully have avoided (or simply just couldn't do any) mowing, etc. of late due to the tremendous rains (over 17" in 1.5 months in Madison County, Texas). Too "squishy" and I don't want my new tractor out in the elements until it dries out enough to get traction. I guess I am too conservative here. Also, I don't have anything to pull me out.
Finally got some mowing in about a week ago but it rained again (1.75 inches) , so I am letting it dry out a tad bit more. I am NOT complaining, mind you, we have burned up in so many prior years...
So instead of using the tractor, I just "let" my battery short out, etc. (see thread herein).

Go figure. Patience is NOT always a virtue.
Good luck, Chip! I understand your frustration but I simply refuse to use the tractor until conditions get better. I believe our 5103 choice of a tractor is one *heck* of a good buy for the money, but I understand why you might want a 4 wd, that is why I *almost* got the 4wd 990. But, I think this was a wiser choice for the long haul. And, I didn't want to tear up the land with huge gouges due to getting stuck or nearly stuck, but that attitude of mine will change over time I am sure. I look forward to seeing ideas about the wider type of tires.
