5105 John deere Tractor
I was out speading manure the other and shut the tractor off to have lunch. I went back out and went to start it. Put it in neutral made sure everything was ready and it wont crank over. Any thoughts on it? I turn the key on and jump the starter. It will turn over but not start.

That's because u have a safety switch that's giving u trouble.. "could be" the seat switch.??
The tractor wont start while jumping the starter because u don't have the shut off solenoid energized..
Make a "jumper wire" & run it to the shut off sol. w/ 2 alligator clips, 1 to the battery & 1 to the sol. on top of the inj. pump..
U don't need a ground because it grounds thru the block OR fix the safety switch..
Good luck.

Check fuses.
Does that tractor have the cold start temperature advance switch that gets wired into the injector pump? If so, when these fail, they short. You can replace the fuse, and temporarily leave the switch unplugged to get running again , but it may start a little harder in cold weather.

Thank you very much. Love the tractor very much. It usually never has issues.

Maybe you solved this already, but I have the same tractor and had the same issue earlier this year. For me, the issue was the connector for the PTO lever safety switch. The dash indicator was working properly, but the safety switch was a separate circuit. I added some dielectric grease and cycled the connector and haven't had the issue since. The safety switch circuit also goes through the seat switch and neutral safety switch. You can use a test light and follow the voltage through these switches. As others have said jumping the starter will cause power to the shutoff solenoid to be removed for safety. There's a set of relays that control this.
