Hello. I've been doing some mowing with my new (to me) 513 mower. The back wheel on the mower isn't rotating freely so it's dragging when I turn and making ruts. I tried to grease it but couldn't get grease to go in. Took out the zirc fitting and it's ok. I think it's just jammed up inside the bearing. If I put a bar on the wheel I can turn it but take some force and makes screeching noise. Anyone know how to get these wheel pivots apart. It's not obvious to me.

I doubt that one has a bearing in it, most tail wheel spindles don't have bearings. The 513 is a light duty mower, so it's probably just a piece of round bar stock inside a pipe. As you have suspected it may just have lots of rust in it but it could be something bent, or there could be something that's gotten wedged inside. I would try and take the spindle out, clean it up, grease it all up, and put it back together. Oh, and make sure you check the grease port while the spindle is out. Usually there is a cotter pin in the top, that holds it in. Can't really tell by the pic how yours is held together, maybe someone here knows???

Evidently the retaining washer(24H698 7/8" X 2" X 1/4") on the top of pivot area is welded on as not bolt/pin is in parts schematic. There are no bushings or brgs for pivot to rotate on either. I would apply your favorite penetrating oil(Kroil is my favorite). If the oil doesn't work the I suggest HEAT.

I ended up taking the zirc fitting out, and underneath the zirc was a ton of old hardened grease. After cleaning all of the old grease out I reinstalled zirc and was able to force new grease into the spindle, which now turns better. Never dis figure out how to take it apart but it's a moot point now. Thanks to all for the advice.
