5234D Stopped Running When Mowing

My 5234D with a belly mower stopped today when mowing. When I tried to start it again nothing happened -- the glow plug did not light and I got no power to the dash. Headlights and hazard lights do not work.

I replaced the main fuse with no results. I checked the battery and it had a charge. Any suggestions?

The first thing you should do is get your hands on a wiring schematic if at all possible. Next I would examine the main battery cables (both positive and negative) end to end for breaks and lose connections.

While many of your electrical functions are controlled by the ignition switch I believe that power to the hazard lights is separate (on my 6284 the hazard lights operate even with the ignition switched off). If that is true then it appears your trouble lies in the main power feed before it splits to energize the lights and the ignition switch.

I know that a lot of people run into issues with all of the safety switches and circuits on newer tractors these days. I don't think that's your problem since I don't believe that they would interrupt power to the hazard lights.

Well, does it crank?, if so then likely it is a spark issue or a fuel issue, if it is a diesel, then likely your fuel pump quit

If it is gas and will not crank
1 check your electrical connections then your fuses, check that all wires are attached (coil and such),

2. If you have head lights and it will not turn over then you know you have juice, and it is in the motor.
3. if yours is diesel,and it just stopped, then it is likely a fuel issue, sorry to tell you but the same thing happened to my diesel truck,,,,going down the road, and it just shut off, I knew before the truck stopped moving that the fuel pump crapped out,,,,I know on the cummins the FP was $2k,,,I don't know what they are on these

If it is your FP,,,,try and get a rebuild,,they are usually 60% of new

No instrument panel power or clicking relay noise of relays activating seems to indicate a power interruption has occurred. Start with the basics. No power at the instrument cluster would seem to indicate the primary power supply for the unit is not functioning correctly. If you have a volt OHM meter check the voltage at the battery positive and negative terminal posts. Then confirm the battery ground cable is attached to the frame of the unit. Place the ground leg of the volt meter somewhere on the frame, not where the ground is attached and the positive on the battery post. Do you have the same voltage as when checked at the battery? If the answer is no, check the cabling on the battery. If yes start checking the main power feed going towards the instrument cluster and find where the power interrupt is. You may find a large XX AMP fuse or a Main Power Relay has either tripped or malfunctioned. Changing positions on the seat sometimes when mowing will cause the safety interlock to deactivate current and shut the unit down. Make sure the MMM is in the off position and the unit is in neutral. If you were mowing in tall weeds when the unit stopped look underneath and see if any electrical connectors were unplugged.

Thanks for all the replies.

After taking the mowing deck off in the field...ugh... I found an electrical connection that was unplugged. I could not see it from under the hood cover and could only see it from underneath the body. Once connected, it started right up and everything is back in order.
