A little while ago the Error 92 Motor NG code showed up on my display and the tractor will no longer shift into Hi range in any gear. We were in the middle of a project so we used it as is until we got to a good stopping point.
Based on feedback in a previous thread, the error code indicates the following:
Probable Cause:
. Hi-Lo solenoid output terminals voltage is out of specification.
. Hi-Lo solenoid broken or short-circuited.
. Wiring harness broken or short-circuited.
Subsequent to this issue, the speed sensor quit working also.
We have tested the hi-lo switch on the steering column and it is fine. However, we are getting no reading at the solenoid itself.
I am not an expert at reading schematics, but the wiring schematic seems to indicate that there is only one wire coming from the Hi/Lo solenoid into the ECU on pin #1. There is no direct connection between the solenoid and the switch on the steering column. The switch appears to come into the ECU on pins 37 and 38.
The speed sensor is a little more complex, but it appears that it may tie in to the switch on the column. Again, I am no expert on reading schematics. We are just trying to isolate the culprit. Based on the schematic, could the faulty (now disconnected) speed sensor cause there to be no reading at the hi/lo solenoid itself? I have tried to attach it for review (zip because of size). I need some of you old salts to give me some expert analysis.
We have ordered the speed sensor, but are trying to confirm that the solenoid is indeed faulty before ordering a non-returnable part.
