5303 JD

I have came across a JD 5303 w/ loader at a price that I simply can't pass up and have a few questions for those that may already own one. I would be using this tractor mainly for pulling a rake, putting out hay, maybe some garden tillering work, or other medium duty work but, how would it handle my Krone AM 243 disk mower? I have read a few reviews (only 5) and some are saying it is light in the rear end. Has anyone else found this to be true?

Don't have one, so can't respond to what "some are saying". Likely additional ballast is required on the rear end for additional weight to balance the FEL.

I do not own a 5303 but I have a 5203 which is the same exact tractor without as much HP. I live in the Appalachian mountains in VA with very steep hills that we make hay on. I have a 165 inch drum mower which is much heavier than a disk mower, the only ballast on the front is the loader and the tractor does just fine on 10 degree hillside never slips around, just goes. But also mine MFWD which gives you more advantages over 2 WD. what id do is go for that tractor. We've had ours for 5 years and has never given us problems.

The 5003 series units made a great rake tractor. Even have enough hydraulics to run a hyd rake very well also. Should be just fine also on a disc mower as big as 7-9 disc set. Have been a pretty reliable series for Deere even though the Indian influence gets poo poo'd. (can I say that?)
