54\" economy deck for the B series....
Greetings, I've pretty much decided to go with either a 7510 or 7610 (even tho the BX2230 still interests me due to the MMM setup) and in checking out the MMM's on the Kubota site I noticed this description on the 3 available MMM's for the B series tractors:
"Features for RCK54-75B Economy Deck:
For B7400, B7500, B7300 tractors,
Durable drive shaft to mid PTO,
Suspended-type deck,
Compatible with LA272/LA302 Loaders,
Quick adjustment cutting height with Lever and Pin on 3-Pt. Hitch.
According to the spec's, the deck is the same gauge as the 54" ground contact MMM & only weighs 14lbs lighter (less the guage wheels I rekon)."
Wonder what makes it "economy?"
Wonder if it's as stable as the 60" floater on the BX?
Wonder if the cut is as good as the non-economy ground contact MMM's?
A 54" would probably be easier to get around my various obstacles even tho a 60" does barely fit...
I was visiting a 2nd Kubota dealer just after I discovered this and asked about it. The very friendly but not very knowledgeable salesman guessed it was an economy deck because it was made of a thinner gauge of steel (wrong) and when I asked how it adjusted since it didn't have guage wheels, he said the B7510/B7610 had a depth adj knob just below the seat. After I told him that there wasn't any such adj knob, he went out &,looked at one then came back saying they must have changed them this year. (yeah right). Since both answers were definitely wrong, I didn't ask him anymore tech questions. Just went over his best pricing.
Unfortunately, neither Kubota dealer had MMM's mounted on their B series tractors in my visits either.
I like the 1st dealer I met with and I think that I am going to go with him if/when I close another deal to free up the capital. I always like to get at least 2 prices anyways....
So, anyone know anything about this economy MMM and can tell about it's performance? I keep thinking a suspended or floating deck will work out better in my back 40 (really back 2) hilly, uneven, rutted former garden & pasture land that I've just started finish mowing in the past couple yrs....
Oh and this 2nd dealer gave me a brouchure on a Woods Groundbreaker backhoe that will hook right on up to the BX2230 now. Said it's not been out very long.
List was around $5200.
It can be used with a solid ROPS because it has it's own operators seat that sits outboard enough to clear it. And of course it's self contained driven off of the PTO.
Once funds are secured, my plan is to drive the 2230, 7510 & 7610 both one last time and the one what produces the woodie will be the pick /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
