54\" mowing deck for 455

When I bought my used 455 in February, it came with the blower attached. Today I went about installing the mowing deck (54") for the first time. I am going about this blindly as there was nothing in the owner's manual about it's installation. None the less, I think I have it on correctly. There is however one problem: the previous owner must have had a bagger attached, therefore removed the discharge deflector from the deck. I have tried every concievable way to re-attach this but have come to the conclusion tht I must be missing a part or two.

Are there any of you who could post a pic of your deck so I can see how it should attach?

...a spring-tensioned hinge and several bolts with locknuts...? I don't know for certain, but there are worse things to try to overcome. I know the 60" model has a similar assembly. I will look tomorrow and check back to see if you still need a reference.

I'll post a pic tomorrow if someone doesn't beat me to it. I leave mine off the deck. The bracket bolts to the deck with two bolts, as you learned in the other message. Then there is a long hinge pin that goes through the bracket and the molded shield that is spring loaded.

Are any of these parts missing? Or what do you have? pics?

Will check back tomorrow.

Gary,

My suggestion is to go to the dealer's parts dept where you can look at the pictures on his computer. So far all parts have been available for the 455's and mower decks that we've needed. We have the 60" deck on the 455 here at the house, but have another 455 all-wheel steer with 54" deck at another location so I can't post pictures right now. I believe that I do have manuals on both decks if you need copies.

I snapped a pic of the shield unattached to the 54" deck, but showing the two bolt holes that hold the angle iron pinned to the shield.

Questions? The pic shows a plastic tie holding the shield and the belt shields together for storage. I keep the top of the deck open so I can keep it dry and free of debris (blow it clean after each mowing).
