5403 quit and won't start back up

I started my 2008 5403 and let it idle while I made adjustments to an attached rotary cutter. After about 5 minutes the engine quit. I tried starting it again, and I noticed the fuel gauge was low. I added 4gals Diesel and tried starting again with no luck. I figured I needed to bleed the fuel line, so I dragged the tractor downhill until it was nose-down a bit. Over the years I found it much easier to prime when facing downhill. Still wouldn't start. Read a few posts about 5403's that won't start, so I checked the fuses, none blown. Tried upping the throttle to 3/4 then back down before starting. Still won't start. What next? Thanks in advance for helping out.

You might need to replace your fuel lines. They crack and let air in. Happens all the time on 6 year old deeres. Tape a new piece of hose to the old one and snake it through. I had to lower the fuel tank in the 5420.
Also, disassemble the manual fuel primer pump and clean. I added a pre-filter to keep junk out of the manual pump.
You need to read the bleeding procedure from the deere website.

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter? Before putting the fuel filter on fill it up first. Have you checked that you have power at the fuel solenoid.
