I had my 5455 in the shop last week for a faulty A/C evaporator. A neighbor was discussing with me a church wed. night how much of a price jump new JD's and CaseIH's have taken, so when I picked up my tractor today I asked about the new 5455's on the lot. With a FEL they have gone up 11 grand over what I paid last June.
That price was up 2 grand from the previous October. Mine is a 2007, I believe, but was told when I bought it that it was a 2008, but it does not have the new style hood.
The new tractors are either '08 or '09's. The only real difference I noticed beside the different hood from mine was the tires. The are not putting Michelins on them anymore and have gone to Titan radials and are using larger tires.
Mine has 16.9R34's on the rear and 13.6R24's on the front. The new models have 380/85R28(14.9-28) on the front and 480/80R38(18.4-38) on the rear. The tractors seem to have a better ground clearance with these tires and the rear fenders are full. There is a pretty good gap on mine between the tire and the fender.
The dealer offered to take my tractor back in trade for anything on the lot for my full purchase price
. I really would like to have had the 5460 instead of the 5455, but just don't want to pay that kind of difference.
