Maybe you were a happy 1070 owner, or an 855 enthusiast. a 4300 or 4410. And you decided to take the plunge and move 'up' to a TWENTY. How is it? What is improved? What do you miss?

I got to try out the 3520 this weekend both cab and open models.

Re: 55 - 70 - 90 - 00 - 10 owners who have TWENTY\'d

I've had an 855 for many years, (Loved it) looking back what do I miss.... (nothing)

I've had a 4200, for 6 years, (Loved it) what do I miss? (Nothing)

Now I have the JD3720 FACTORY CAB..... what do I miss over the previous models, Nothing.. we'll maybe the mechanical linkage Hydro Pedals,(just a little miss though) because I loveload match.... the older mechanical pedals gave me a lot of feel of exactly what the tractor was doing right up through the pedals... but I'm getting used to it.. besides I think the loadmatch is a better trade off... this thing just won't stall....

Re: 55 - 70 - 90 - 00 - 10 owners who have TWENTY\'d

You know, I have to agree with Jason. Moving from my 4400 to the 3720 cab, I find I miss very little from the old machine. I also missed the feedback from the mechanical hydro at first, but am growing accustomed to the ehydro and the loadmatch & cruise are unbeatable!

All of the controls on the new machine work more smoothly and it appears that Deere has just refined the entire machine. Fixed little nagging issues and just made everything a little smoother. I like the new one-piece hood/side panels, the new folding grill guard, and the 300cx loader (compared to my old 420 loader).

Of course you've seen the cab model, so there isn't much I can tell you about it. Quiet, good visibility, easy in and out (important to me), etc. I was also pleasantly surprised at how well all of the cable operated controls worked. I was a little concerned before I got the tractor that all of the cable controls might not be as smooth or easy to control as direct-link mechanical controls. But, so far, everything works well. I hope over time that all of these cables don't need adjustments or lube. There are a BUNCH of cables on this thing...

There is still one remaining issue that Deere has never addressed that I will NEVER understand. You cannot remove the toplink pin if the rockshaft happens to be in the same position as the pin. Makes no sense to me why they can't spread the rockshaft arms to allow the pin to remove. Every other make of CUT I've seen does not have this problem. I've learned to deal with just by being certain I have the toplink where I want it before connecting the lower links. Whatever....

Also, yesterday, we had an unusually warm day (mid 70's) for early March. I was out doing some chores with the tractor and I realized something. With the cab, I'll either have to use the heat or the A/C. There is no "open windows" on a nice spring day. I missed being out in the open. Now, this past January, I loved the cab and come this summer, I'm sure I'll love it every bit as much or more (it gets HOT here). But, on the first warm day of spring, I missed being out in the open.

But, I would not want to "undo" what I've done. I love the new machine.

If you are considering the cab and have any specific questions, I'll be happy to give you my opinion. I'm sure Mr. Jason will also.

Best of luck!
Chris

Re: 55 - 70 - 90 - 00 - 10 owners who have TWENTY\'d

I had both a 50 series and a 90 series. The only thing I have missed going to the 20 series is reliability. My 4320 has had its share of problems. were my other tractors were always worked with out missing a beat. Its better now than when I first bought it. And I will say it has tons of power now ( at least the tractor! not the backhoe /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif) But I still have a battery acid problem that the dealer doesn't want to fix and no fuel gauge at this point. And a power sterring squeel( only when the backhoe isn't on????) that the dealer has no clue what to do.Besides all of the engine issues I had in the begining and the center axle pivot pin almost falling out.But I will say other than many trips to the dealer, It is the nicest tractor I have owned.

Re: 55 - 70 - 90 - 00 - 10 owners who have TWENTY\'d

The cab model is really nice. But there won't be any of them at Rocky Ridge. Mrs. RR grew up in a tractor dealership, and said so. Really nice, though.

The 10 series of course has LoadMatch and tractor by wire controls. I couldn't give them up, either.

Wow, RRacing, sorry to hear of your woes. You already know this, but get an Optima. It is your only hope. Apparently, only tbn'ers must suffer from battery acid spewitis. Or Big Greene would have addressed this long ago. But only after the dealer has fixed the corrosion issues on the machine.

You TWENTY has a fuel gauge? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Oh, that's right, so does my 10. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif It is there o the dash as a reminder to screw off the cap and see if there is any fuel. As bad as it is, I still wouldn't trade to some brand that actually can build a fuel gauge. (I once was told rather forcefully by a Jinma owner that his tractor was far superior to mine because it had a working fuel gauge!! But I just don't look good on red...) At least Yanny engined machines are self bleeding, I must be slipping, but do the Deere engines have that as well?

No power in your backhoe?

Someday when registered member #175,005 reads this archive post, the 970 will have been restored and whatever equivalent to the 5520 at the time will be used at RDLN. In other words my next move wont be a lateral size and hp wise.

Re: 55 - 70 - 90 - 00 - 10 owners who have TWENTY\'d

Good evening. I moved up from a 2210 to a 3720....with all the bells and whistles EXCEPT the enclosed cab. I absolutely love the new tractor. Here are the major reasons: much much better power to weight....ability to unlink rear PTO from middle, i.e., mower can be lowered without lowering the rear quick hitch.......much better control guages.....easier to handle loader......easier to fill fuel.....great lights.....much improved tire traction. I got a mid-PTO , rear light kit, upgraded airlift seat, a 12volt plugin onright fender, and various attachments. I would have been scared to death of the 3720 unless I had learned how to do things on the 2210. The 3720 is a big machine....not for beginners. but, it is a wonderful tractor and, hopefully, my last one. I am 62 and female.....and manage ten acres by myself.

ah /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I am moving my little tractor from an 855 to a 3720, but it will still be my little tractor! I wanted to stay with a small tractor so my wife would feel comfortable with it.
The 2355 scares her. But then my niehbor parks his 9200 next to it and it becomes the compact...
I almost got a blue tractor this time, the price/feature was much better and the design was great, but the eHydro is soooo cool
it pulled me back to green. Plus my wife is a green queen.
