Something like that needs to be strapped to the pallet.

In your opinion.

Has 3 sides so barrel can't move anyway but forward. Simply tilting the forks back prevents that. Been using these for decades, never came close to losing a barrel.

I bought an inexpensive pump off eBay for $65 in April 2017 and it hasn't missed a lick. I keep two drums under the shed my diesel generator is under and use one of the generator batteries to power the pump. I have a local fuel company deliver the fuel so I don't have to transport or move the drums. I pull whatever I need to fuel up in range of the hose and fill.

In hindsight I may have chosen one of the pump kits without a nozzle and bought an auto shut off nozzle for it but it's not much trouble to just look in the tanks as I fill. Filling my 28 gallon backhoe tank takes less than 2 minutes.

I have a FillRite FR112 hand crank pump in a 50 gallon barrel in my shop. When I need to pump more than I feel like cranking I just take my Dewalt cordless drill and stick a socket on the nut holding on the crank. Let the drill do the work. Works like a charm and one battery will easily pump a whole 55gal barrel.

A year in Florida is trending toward the absolute max that diesel should be stored without going stale. With your humidity, there is no way to avoid moisture in the barrel. Even with a sealed tank, you’ll just be sealing it in (maybe even accelerating the algae process). Heat is also your enemy, which you have plenty of. Maybe you can stretch it out with Sta-Bil Diesel and a Biocide, but you would be well served to rotate your stockpile frequently by filling up that truck. I’d be waaaaay more worried that my diesel has gone stale and will clog all my filters and wreck havoc on injectors than I would be with whether a DC pump will fail.

For smaller users, my practice is to use a 35 gal "pesticide" tank from Tractor Supply fitted with replacement fuel resistant gaskets and caulked with fuel resistant goo. The standard 3/4" hose and filler nozzle also from TSC work fine for gravity fill where circumstances fit. I also got a 12v pump that is very fast and can be run either off any handy battery or more often from the battery charger. My 12v pump is a Kmotor brand & paid $39 for it via Amazon. Added some clear hose to it so I can see progress. Works great.
One of the features of this for the SMALL operator is being able to cart the tank to a gas station or truck stop in the back of an old station wagon, trunk of a clunker, truck, etc. with no big deal. Beats lifting 5 or 6 old 5 gallon jugs.

Wow! My first +3! Thanks!

Tried to tell him earlier. Sold fueling equip and filters for several years. Once had farmer leave 8000 gal of diesel in aboveground tank between seasons and wondered why he couln't keep filters from clogging on his tractors. We lent him a transfer pump, but sold him several dozen high priced filters to remove the algae. He then treated it and used as soon as possible.
