5500 Voltage gauge light

I have a Mahindra 5500 I recently purchased. I have noticed that the red light in the upper right corner of the voltage gauge flickers when I am running the tractor and at a lower idle the light frequently is brightly lit. I never have a problem starting it and the dealer could not find anything. Any suggestions on what to check??

That could indicate an overcharging. Turn your lights on when you see the flicker or the light stays on and post back and let me know if the light goes out. How old is your tractor?

Thanks for the reply. I ran the tractor and turned the lights on. Noticed the front two headlights not working for some reason. All of the others turned on.

When I first start the tractor and let it idle on low, the gauge runs in the middle to the lower end. After a little time it jumps clear to the right and the light comes on. When I turned the flashing lights on the light still flickered somewhat. I didn't have time to check the problem with the headlights.

I bought the tractor in Dec 03. It has 70 hrs on it.

Better call you dealer. He should fix it under warranty. Sounds like you may have more than one electrical issues with the lights not working. I think the light indicates a charging problem, and i think it is an overcharge. I would get it in right away.

Made the call earlier today. Problem with front head lights was a lose connection. Not a big deal.
