We rebuilt a sprayer that has a hydraulic driven centrifugal pump on it. I know, I wanted to switch to PTO but my partner didn't want to spend the money. I don't have the deluxe SCV with the motor setting and detent options, just the standard 2 SCV pack. JD came out with an adapter that replaces the hydraulic oil filler tube and provides a zero pressure return point back to the sump. I figured that and a rope or bungee cord would get me in business. Thank you JD. I ordered the thing but it doesn't quite fit. First off, it has Made in China stamped on it in 3 places. The outside diameter of the tube is slightly smaller than the original so it doesn't fit tight in the rockshaft cover. And, the wall thickness of the tube is thinner so when you put the filler cap tube in it, it wobbles around. I don't want to chance a jury rig. Dealer is clueless naturally. They didn't even know JD made this thing. Alternate Method??? There is a screw plug on the side of the rockshaft cover that appears to lead directly into the sump, at the base of the filler tube. I can see the back side of the plug when I look down the filler tube. I was thinking about removing the plug, drilling out the middle of it, and tapping it for 1/2 inch hydraulic hose connection to use for a return. Has anyone else tried this method? The dealer service manager said he didn't see anything wrong with it (yes, it's out of warranty). Thanks in advance for the input.
