my 5525 Tier III started doing a lot of bluish smoking a few months back; I can't seem to fix the problem. My air filter was really dirty. I can't believe how difficult Mahindra has made the routine task of cleaning screens and changing filters on this tractor. Replaced the primary filter but problem is still around. It seems to start smoking after about 10 minutes of work. The tractor has about about 150 hours on it and is going on 4 years old. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Blue smoke is generally oil. Sounds like something is leaking once it gets warm. Valve seal or rings perhaps.

Just a shot in the dark, do you think it might be getting oil sucked in through the PCV valve/hose? This unit should have a 5 year powertrain warranty on it. Check with "the" or "a" dealer. I can not remember if your model is turbocharged or not, if so take a look at it. Just seems strange to have internal engine trouble at 150 hours but those things have and can happen.

Still struggling with this problem. It doesn't seem to be using / losing any oil. The problem is real predictable. The tractor runs well (clean) for about 10 minutes. Then all of a sudden the exhaust gets real smokey. It smokes enough to irritate breathing. And it doesn't make much difference about the RPMs or load.

This tractor does have a turbocharger. I am startng to wonder if problem is related to turbocharger or EGR or? My Ooperators Manual doesn't give any clear info about servicing or checking this. They talk about check for oil leaks in drain line and I don't know what they are talking about. I also saw something about inspecting and cleaning the crankvase ventilation valve and again I don't know what that is. Is it the oil fill cap? Anyway, I am now wondering about how the effect of temperature is playing into this. From doing some reading, it appears that the EGR kicks in after the engine warms up and maybe something is screwed up there.

Funny thing about all of this is that I was totally surprised to find out that I bought a turbocharged engine. I didn't discover until I owned it 3 years that I had the turbo version when a friend pointed it out to me. I told them that it coudn't be a turbocharger because then I would have a 6625. At least that is what the dealer told me. They said the 6625 was a turbocharged 5525. And of course since I didn't want the maintenance issues with a turbocharger, I went with the 5525. Obviously I am a big novice. The turbo was staring me right in the face all along.
