Brand new tractor, just came today. After bush hogging about an hour coming up the hill I noticed the light. I bought it with 2 hours on it. The tractor was delivered about 3 this afternoon. The tractor now had 4 hours on it.
The light is blinking not solid, per the manual says a dealer fix.
I will call the dealer in the morning, it is a tier 3 tractor so no fluid for the exhaust.

Make sure when you start your tractor the throttle is at the lowest position as this will set off an engine code.

Hopefully it is something simple like this.

Thanks, that made me look harder because you said code. it is not blinking steady it is blinking 3 if that means anything to anyone. The dealership service department ended up being closed today so no dice there.

I put 4or 5 gallons of coop off road diesel in it and the light went off. It may have had regular diesel in it from the dealership.

I had to call the dealership again, and was told the three blinking lights was most likely the throttle position sensor. It could be out of adjustment or bad.
This would explain 8-10 gallons of fuel in 5 hours hopefully. Otherwise this thing loves diesel.

It is the TPS. Had same issue, bad sensor. Took my dealer three sensors before they got a good one. As far as the fuel consumption goes, if you brush hogging at PTO rpm for 5 hours, 8-10 gallons is about right. You are making a bit hp for mowing. The 5530 is a good strong tractor and has done everything I have asked of mine. Hope this helps.

There was a bad batch of Bosch TP sensors, at least that is what I have seen. It seems that some of the Bosch TPS have outputs outside the range that the tractor is looking for. Doesn't seem to cause the tractor to run poorly, but it should be fixed since it theoretically can affect emissions. Depending on the size of the brush hog and what you were cutting 2 gallons/hour is not unreasonable.

It could be the low quality of tractor that I used to have, but sensor or not, this thing is a BEAST. Eng18lt I think I may have contacted you thru youtube and ask about the 5530 tractor. I have to work 10 days more before I get a day off, but I'm looking to finish my bush hogging up and doing some more clean up with the loader.

Glad to see you found our little corner of the internet! You are absolutely correct, our tractors are beasts of a machine. Only other item to watch for would be stuttering after the first 20 minutes of use. If it does that you most likely need a timming adjustment with the fuel pump, not at all a difficult or time consuming fix. Heck, maybe they have corrected that issue at some point in the last 2 years.

Anyway, enjoy that new tractor and don't be afraid to work it hard!

Is the stuttering a little puff of smoke and slight hesitation when changing rpm's? If so I have noticed that also.
I have a big project lined up, I want to redo the hill next to the house. It's a little steep and uneven, I'm going to fix that.
I also need to fill some holes that will make my bush hogging smoother. After I have the holes filled I should be able to mow faster, and neater.
