New to the mahindra world. Recently purchased a 5530 non turbo with fel. I noticed first time down the road that it would not pull itself up a small hill in 8th gear. The tires are loaded, and fel was on it. Just seems like a lack of power, no smoke or anything like it was starving for fuel. But I have noticed while bush hogging with a rhino 284 that when I start down a grade it will start huffing blueish smoke like it is wet stacking. All fluids and filters have been replaced. Other than the lack of power I havent noticed anything that has caused concern.

I guess what I am asking is does anyone elses 5530 power out going up hill on the road in 8th gear. Mine only has 430 hrs. On it.

Sounds like you need to roll your pump.

Also take the fuel shut off out of the bottom of the tank and be sure you don't have a clog..

the pump rolling should be the issue though with the smoke.... either way 8th gear on that tractor with loaded tires your going to bog going up a hill.. any heavy 3cyl tractor will feel that especially an 8x8 transmission

There is no clog. When I replaced filter I left bowl loose and opened valve to fill filter it poured out. I read about advancing pump timing on these but everyone I seen doing it had blue smoke all the time. Mine only does it when I am under heavy load and start over a hill. My massey did this a little just not as much.

Still I would roll it... Also check your return line real close to be sure it hasn't dryrotted.. you can replace it yourself with heavier hose if so. but if your getting blue smoke one way or another its starving for air or fuel.

Anything special to watch when advancing? Anyone have a procedure? I dont have a book on it. Seen something about them being tamper proof needing a special tool. My tractor is at my property so I would like to have what I need, if anything special when I head there. I will play with it a bit and see if I can find a sweet spot. I feel it is like the fuel is not coming in quick enough when put under load then overfueling as load decreases for a few seconds. Like it is just retarded a hair

Just loosen the 3 bolts a bit and turn clockwise hold while you tighten the bolts back up... the back bolt is a pain... also did you actually take the shut off assembly out the bottom of the tank or just wen off the fuel coming out the line.. It can give it plenty of fuel then and look like its getting because it is in low rpms but its when you need a lot is when you see the bit of clog show..

Ok, I am going to remove line off bottom of tank and check screen. Today I was bush hogging for about an hour on all flat ground, started over a slope and it started huffing blue smoke and missing like crazy. Would not clear up after that. Almost died a few times. Even once I got back on flat ground. Disengaged pto and idled down then reved up and from 1800 to 2100 rpm smoke and missing. Definetly think it is a few flow issue because it never did it until the slope.

Make sure to check the hole exit hole and around it and not just the screen. also the shutoff be sure its not gumed up either... if you got a low tank of fuel best would be to flush it while you can... whatever is flaking off, or growing, or been in there is going to continue.. you can take the tank to a shop and have them treat the inside to skip the problem in the future
