555DTC

I have a low hour 555DTC that will not engage into 4 wd (did before) the lever will not move!! Anyone else have this problem if so how did you get it to work??

I have the same tractor, but have not had this problem yet. I don't mean to be a smart ***, but have you checked to see if you hit something that would have bent linkage. If no bent linkage, I don't know what it would be. Keep us posted when you find the problem.

That was the first thing that I checked. The arm off of the case will not move with the linkage off!!

Can or would anyone send me a breakdown of the shifter box for the 4wd so I can see whats in there please ???

Have not seen this on a Farmtrac but on other tractors, the bushing where the shaft goes through the housing can get dry and seize. some PB blast or WD 40 might be needed to loosen the lever. That is if all was working before. Is the unit stuck in 4wd? Might just be a lot of pressure on the shaft, try lifting front off ground or try moving it while the tractor is rolling slowly. It was a easy fix thanks to Doyle and bluechip for the info!!! Just took of the shift arm pin pull out the lever rotate it up to the correct position and worked like a charm! Those 555's a excellent tractor and will probably last me my life time:
