The cap on my machine is occasionally leaking a small amount of coolant that then gets blown onto the left side of the engine compartment by the cooling fan. I was wondering if others have encountered this?

No, I haven't. I see the "full when cold" is quite high in the tank, so, maybe run the fluid lower? Mine has been about half full (about at the tank mounting bolts) since I bought it.

No leaks from ours:

My G is four years old now. For the first six months of ownership I was occasionally replacing a small amount of coolant and even was in process of scheduling a leak test before the warranty ran out. I could not find any signs of leaks except for minor reminant around the reservoir lid. I decided to tighten the cap just a little extra with channel locks and that resolved the issue.

First thing...the "lid" is more than just that, it is the 14psi pressure cap for the coolant system. Also, this "reservoir" is more than a simple overflow tank like what is on a tractor or car. This heavy duty plastic tank is on the pressure side of the cap. Treat this like a normal radiator cap on a system with no overflow catch tank. If the system pressure exceeds 14psi, the cap will allow pressure to be released. If the fluid level is at the cap, fluid will also be released to the surrounding area.

Yup, you are correct. I am sorry for my improper term. It is indeed a reservoir under pressure and indeed the cap has has a pressure relief valve incorporated into it, I did not refer to it as an overflow tank. However, unlike the radiator on all of the vehicles I have owned this cap has actual threads in which applying just a small amount of additional pressure with a pair of channel lock brand slip joint pliers (this compensates my arthritis) applied just enough more sealing force on the rubber gasket in between the reservoir and the cap.
That stopped my coolant leak about 3 years ago in which is why I took the time to share my experience with the OP.

Sorry if I sounded like I was correcting you. I just wanted to clarify the WHY behind you having to tighten your cap tighter than what looks like a generic overflow tank. :drink:

I did take it that way , typed communication is easily misunderstood. Thank for clarifying

I did pick up a gallon of the purple premixed coolant and raised the level slightly in my bottle today. When I tightened my cap this time, I noticed that it clicked when it was tight. Hmm, I had not noticed that before.
