Need to keep old beater loaner saws on hand IMO.

So far the dealer has been great. Good communication. I agree on the loan out. He works in the woods (now retired) so its not like he's a noob.. he just mixes rich because its likely what he always did. Like alot of guys, I dont think they understand the newer oils. I have no ill will towards him, he likely thought he was doing me a favor by topping up the tank with his gas.

But there could be an issue... Seems my saw is about 2.5 weeks out of warranty! Dealer said he'd try to get any repairs if needed covered.. Better be covered!;) I have no doubts he'll do his best to treat me right.

One more thing, he still has no 562's.

One more, one more thing... He doesnt have his scanner computer yet either! So he cant check codes or reset the computer if he had to or wanted to, do a swap!. Apparently they just went to saw school a few weeks back, up until then the reps said that the computer was an option but not required, now they say it IS required to do pretty much everything. That was my fear on buying a "high tech" saw. Has anyone found a way to talk to these saws without the Husky computer yet? I know that my warranty is up, so this will likely be its first and only trip to the dealer for service. Being able to talk to the saw is starting to sound like a requirement for any future DIY service.

What would the chances be of getting the dealer to install the new and improved carb even if he cant get the saw to act up in testing? Is it worth pushing him for? What's Husky's position.. worth a call to them? Any idea on what the new carb costs if I have to order it myself out of warranty?
I don't believe there is a 'new and improved' carb. Just a few bad carbs that needed replacing. If the dealer get's yours running right, I wouldn't worry about it.

Is there a chance that something got in the fuel tank when you filled it, like a wood chip? If so it could have blocked the fuel pickup. Maybe when the dealer replaced the fuel it came out.

Dont think so on the chip.

I pulled the filter and it was spotless!

Plus he checked the fuel and said it was clean, just REAL rich. The richness is my bad, before I sent the saw in, I should have flushed the tank, I would have seen my buddies fuel in there for sure. I only run the XP mix, and then Im real precise at 50:1, I use a srynge for the oil and dispense the exact amount from the gas pump! Dead nuts on.

We still have the issue with the air leak and the fact it wouldnt purge. Dealer said that sometimes the filter can get flipped around and pinch the fuel line off on these saws (the line in the tank is REAL long). Im not sure I buy that as being my problem though, I drop start my saw, so it moves around a lot, plus i generally swing it a bit when carrying it.. You'd think that in the remote chance the line did get pinched in the tank, it would get unwrapped from all that movement?

I still think there is a pinhole in a line (or the purge bulb) somewhere. My vac tester is broken unfortunately. If it was working, id test the lines if the saw comes back and he says there is no issue

Can these saws be reflashed to the new tune?

I know there was a carb change late last year, after I bought mine in sept. Was it just a software thing, or was there significant changes made to the carb itself?

Yes they can be put on and redone. I never bought the diagnostic tool so that is where it ends for me.
