I have an 05 or 06 5740C. One day it started making this awful racket down underneath up around the front end. It increased with the speed of the tractor. I found that if I took it out of 4WD the noise would go away, so that is what I did to keep working. A couple weeks later I went to see what the problem might be. I put in back in 4WD to see what would happen. The noise was gone but so was my 4WD. It seems that when I have a problem with something I get on here and notice that I'm not the only one. Anyone else hear of this problem or might want to guess what could be wrong. Not having 4WD is really an inconvience.

Sorry John, don't know what could be causing the front wheel assist problems.

I just admired the nice pic of your vineyard.

What area of vineyard do you have and what is the fruit used for.

jc,

Not sure what it could be. I know that with my 05 5740C, the lever to put it in and out of 4WD is easy to go from 2WD to 4WD, but taking it back then to 2WD is a real bugger bear. It takes a lot to push it back into 2WD from 4WD position. That's the only "problem" I've ever had with mine and its been that way since I got it..

you need to check the front drive line there is a coupling that gose to the trans, it has ballbering and a collar that holds those ball bearing in if this has come off you will need to get a new coupling.
