Oil & Fuel 5740C Top of Fuel Tank What is it??

Hello, sorry for the stupid question. On the top of the 5740C fuel tank there is a metal component with what looks like two small wires connected to it. Can anyone tell me what this is, I am thinking it is the fuel guage connection?

The reason I ask is I am installing a temp guage in the cab, and I am thinking this would be a good location for the tiny probe (On the top of course with 3M tape) I want to make sure this device does not heat up or anything.

Why dont you put the probe on the back of one of the cab lights.

Thanks Gemini5362, I may have to do that I was hoping to run the wire through the existing access gromet that is in the lower left side of the cab and mount the monitor with velcro to the black frame rail on the front.

I could also run the wire out and stick to the FEL mount

I think the fuel tank temp will throw your sensor off,maybe put the sensor on the off, or non working side of the tractor, and the display just under the cab front, so you can see it through the front window. I recently installed a clock inside my 5740 cab, used itty bitty holes, and itty bitty screws, working just fine. Sidey
