Here's a horrible picture I found on the net, but it's exacly like what I use at work. The next photo I'll post is like my boss's, but his looks better.

The other, an extendahoe. My boss has a thumb on his. Very nice attachment to have! I wish I had a scanner so I could scan my pictures of the actual machines that I drive. Oh well.

The Case 580B seem to be a very handy piece of equipment even in my area, for at one time the JD310B was a hot item many years ago.

The 580Bs seem to be showing up at auctions again... Probably nicer than the CK we had years ago, but not as nice as a C which was easier to work on the trans.
(don't have to split the tractor)
Do I have a point? not really... /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

I like 580B's but I like the C's better. They seem more roomy, and the b's look goofy becuase they're so narrow when looked head on! :) Anyway, my boss once had to work on my backhoe transmission. We feared that we had to again back in the summer, but we found out that it was the problem. <SIGH> ;)

Pictured is a VERY nice 580C ex-hoe!

I really like the big backhoes... 680s-780s, Cat 446s, JD710s, etc. Mostly because ya just don't see em that often. There was a 680E for sale here recently that I really liked. Was a national guard veteran still in olive drab. If I'd had the cash, I woulda grabbed it. ah well... someday...

That's so cool. It is an awesome job! I love it too. I'm going nuts on wanting to start my own business. But I have to be careful and not rush into it, need to be careful, don't want to fail. :)It's good to hear from you.

CASE 580s are Really Cool! I am only familiar with the “C” model and wish I owned one.
Take my advice-stay in school and get your degree. A degree demonstrates you have the ability, discipline, and determination to learn.
Business is an excellent major, but these days you should not undervalue the study of English and Spanish if possible. The ability to properly communicate your ides is absolutely invaluable. This ability alone will separate you from most of your peers.
Also understand that after you graduate, the learning just begins!
Have fun and get involved in the heavy equipment business. I went to school in Peoria, home of Caterpillar, and many of my classmates went to work in that industry. I know it is a tough business but I have heard few complaints.
Good luck!

I plan on doing just that. I'm thinking of majoring in constructino management, or business and marketing. Not sure yet. I'm almost fluent in Spanish, I have a lot of mexican friends, and my step-dad is spanish. :) So that helps. I'm excited to get my degree in whatever it may be, it will bring me good times later on in life when running my business.
