Hi,

I'm pretty sure it should be fine, right? The owners manual I have for my Iseki is from the 80s or 90s and states to use 10w30 oil for all season use. 5w30 for diesels is actually cheaper over here, and more available. Capacity is 6 liters. If anything, it should start better in winter, right? (Though in temperatures a bit below freezing last winter it started fine, and seems the guy who sold it to me put 15w40 in it, as that's sort of "standard" for tractors and cheap :-/ )

Your assumptions are correct. 5w30 will be fine.

I agree. As long as the oil meets (or exceeds) your engine manufacturerers requirements it will be even better for your engine than the 10W30 for the reason you already stated.

I run 15W40 - what Kubota recommends. Works just fine and starts great - even in the winter.
