I need to replace a front rim on my 1500D and the current tire is a 6 - 14. The rim is a 4 hole rim. When looking for a rim, do I look for replacing the rim with a 4 hole, 6 x 14? I see that Hoye has 5 x 14 rims, but anted to see if I actually need the 5 x 14 or can I go with the 6 x 14. Thanks for any help.

The ones from hoye will work assuming you replace in a pair and do not have 4wd . the reason i say 4wd is that you will throw off your tire ratio to the front n back.

A member on here DeepinDirt has done some rim swapping to generics he found at the scrap yard. Look him up, i dont think he has posted in a few weeks but is a regular here. He will tell you he is not sure what his rims came off of bit it was like agarden tractor form he thinks the 70s. He is running either 12 or 13 inch car tires on it i think now. he has a 2wd ym1700 though.

The tractor is 4WD and the tires are relatively new. Is it best to go with two new rims vs one so that the rear / front ratio is not thrown off or if I find out that the broken rim is either a 5 x 14 or 6 x 14, can I go with replacing one rim to match the side that is not being replaced?

The ought to be the same. Reason is that your tires will probly seat on either rim but a wider rim will make the tire a bit shorter in profile. This height difference may not be enough to make a difference in the ratio but then again it may be just enough to make a difference. If it were me i would want a matched pair with the same size rims.

The rim needs to be narrower than the tire, as a rule. The 1500D is supposed to have a 4 inch wide rim. The correct tire according to Hoye is a 5-14. Since you already have a matched set of the wrong tire up front, I'm not sure what to advise. For sure, you don't need to worry that the wrong rim will throw off your ratio, since the tires are doing it already.:confused3:

The tires were replaced with the same size that was already on the tractor, so going with the 6 - 14s that I have, I will see about getting a 5x14 set of rims (so that the tire can be on a more narrow rim).
