For those of you who have experience operating both series of tractors, which series do you like better and why. FWIW, I have no experience operating the 2x20 series tractors, but have a 955 and really like it. Sorry if this has already been talked to death.

I bought an 855 a little over a year ago.
Have put about 100 hours on it to 850 total.
Not bad for an 1987 model.

This is my first compact and first hydrostatic.
One of those thing where you wonder "why didn't
I do this years ago"............
It is paid for so don't care about xxxx series performance.

I dont think you can beet the quality of the 55 series cuts.

I think the 55 series are probably one of the most depenable cuts JD made in my opinion.

With that being said I like the newer JD cuts aswell because of all the advancements they have made over the years.

I bought a used 755 a few years ago and love it. Its simple to work on , has lots of grease fittings to keep it from wearing out and it has not been over complicated buy adding unnecessary electronics. I don't have any seat time on the new tractors but the ergonomics sure seem nice. The aluminum axle housings are a little scary though.

The 2000 series, in my mind, are simply an evolution of the 55 level machines, with upgrades. Of the 2000 series, 3000 series and 4000 series compacts, the 2000 are my least favorite machines. Despite this, I have one (2320) and really like it individually. I do not feel the 2000 machines offer as much for the money as the larger machines, but they are still very nice nonetheless and fit into the size range many of us need. As far as computer controls, the 2000 series, to my view, does not have these. My 2320 shares a similar mechanical link hydro, etc., to older model machines which some folks find more satisfying. The ehydro and all those things come with the 3000 series. So, if avoiding computerization is a priority the 2000 should fit the bill. They are also very nice machines and an upgrade indeed, but not a revolutionary one.
