60\" MMM Gator Blades

Hey Guys,

I usually read everything in Kubota and John Deere pages when I visit the site, and lately in the Kubota site there have been several post concerning the Gator Blades, and how well they work.

I have a 4110, with the 60" MMM, has anyone tried the Gator Blades on that setup? If so how did they perform?

I appreciate any information you can give me, as far as part numbers or any comments in general on the Gator Blades.

Re: 60\" MMM Gator Blades

I didn't get a set with the new 60" on my 4110 but I did try them on my 455 / 60 mmm. I didn't notice any difference in cutting and the mower still had spots where areas of the deck would plug up with cuttings. The blades were thinner and didn't hold an edge as well as the orig JD blades. I'm going to stick with the stock blades. Some people may believe in them strongly but I couldn't see a benefit. Kinda like the added mileage and hp gains with splitfire plugs. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks Joe,

I don't believe in wasting money, so I will just sharpen last years blades and get ready for spring.

Re: 60\" MMM Gator Blades

Wow! Willing to give up on them after one reply! I think they work well is some applications, and no different than standard blades in others. I put them on the 54" deck on my 2210 and noticed a significant decrease in deck plugging, and I even measured the lenght of the clippings coming out of the deck. The Gator blade clippings are finer, more in the 3/4" length, versus the standard blade that only cut them once, so when I cut 1 1/2" off the lawn, that is the length of clippings. Since they cost about the same as the original blades, and are no thinner than the Deere factory blades (0.204" on each!) why not give them a try when its time for new blades?

Re: 60\" MMM Gator Blades

The ones I received had a washer attached to the blades to make up the thickness of the orig blades. The price was a bit more ( 3-5 dollars I believe ) These were purchased a while back when they first came out. The only difference other than the thickness was the three cuts on the lift wing of the blade. ( on each side ) Like I said I didn't notice a difference and will be sticking to the orig JD blades. If you believe, have a good time. I'm from the "show me " state.
