Well, spring is here (up to 16" of the white spring stuff expected here tonight). It's time to get to thinking about mowing again, though the FEL might get a workout to open the driveway tomorrow.

Over the winter, I found and installed a mid PTO kit on my 770. Thanks again to the posts here that made that job more understandable.

Now, I'm on the prowl for a 60" Mid Mount Mower for the machine (it's a MFWD model, BTW). I've got my eye on a couple; one actually came off a 770 with "some" of the hardware, but I think they want too much $$ for it. The other is less dough but I think it was set up for a 955.

So, my questions are:

1) Is there much difference in the mowers used on the 770 and 955? Something about the front links don't look the same between the two mowers but I'm thinking JD was probably good at making the deck interchangeable between different tractors. But I don't know that for a fact.

2) Does anyone have some pictures of a MMM installed and set up on a 770 or similar? Specifically, I'm looking for the pictures of the front attachment and the lift linkage setup. I know they somehow get connected to the 3-point draft arms but I don't have a clue what hardware is needed under there.

3) I have no idea what I'm omitting here so any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Can't be exact but the 770 and 955 mounting are quite similar. I can say for sure that the mounts for 770 and 790 tractors are the same. I know a gentleman in N Wy who has a 60" mmm and is looking to change to a rear grooming mower. Don't know if the 790 tire issue also applied to the 770, I believe on the 790 mfwd you had to run either ag or turf the industrial had a clearance issue but may have that backwards.

Wyoming is closer to me than Arkansas or Texas, that's for sure. If your friend is serious about selling, I'd like to talk to him.

I have Ag tires on mine, by the way.

Wayne, thanks for your help. I was able to modify (read: cut) those two pieces for the forward mower lift and bolt them directly to my FEL mount. It's 1/2" steel but an abrasive cutoff disk on my miter saw makes quick work of that task. Drilled the remaining piece to match up to the bolt holes on the bottom of the FEL mount. Today I'll pick up the bolts I need and hopefully have the mower up and running by afternoon.

You are very welcome, hope it all works out for you. Let me know if I can be of any other help.

Got it all greased and bolted up this afternoon. Works like a charm. Now I just have to wait for the grass to grow. . .
