Just get some locking hairpin clips. Slides in like a regular hairpin and then snaps shut sorta like a safety pin. McMaster-Carr has all sizes and styles.

I just did a search for those and had a hard time finding them. But I finally found them listed under Bowtie Cotter Pins. Looks like the ones for 5/8" and 3/4" bolts are $6.86 for a pack of 25. I might be placing an order here shortly. I had the aggravation of either losing them or having to wrap and unwrap wire as I take my deck off every couple of weeks.

Yep those are one kind... there is also another style called "safety pins" and is more along the lines of what I was referring to. There are several styles of them listed (pg.3099 in vol.110) and some even have a lanyard attached so you can fasten the lanyard to something on your equipment and lessen the chance of ever loosing one. Notice I didn't say "never." /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
