I just purchased a new CountyLine rotary tiller from TSC, which I think is a KK gear tiller. They had a special promo 12 months no payments, so I pulled the trigger. Is there any advice before I use the unit?? The overall condition of the tiller is good, paint is near perfect. Only thing I found wrong was grease fittings were painted over couldnt get grease in.

I think you have the drive shaft hooked up wrong! ;)
I bought a 4'er last weekend and had no problems getting the hang of it. They are pretty straight forward. I have my skids set all the way up for more penetration. I had some horse squeeze aging and put it in my garden and the tiller really blended it in with the soil. My soil came out almost like saw dust, the tiller does that good of a job.

Yeah I have a new CT335 Bobcat coming soon, so I will be using the tiller on it not my 955. Thanks for the info and especially the tip about the driveshaft:eek:

Thats a new one. Funny.
I remember my dad using "horse squeeze" and it killed the garden the first year we put it on, but the following year it was great. I guess we should have let it age a little longer.

Well the driveshaft wasn't hooked up was it and it looks like its pointing right way to me.

The slip clutch goes on the tiller,[its got a picture and arrow on ends].

pointers, speaking of slip clutch read your owners manual, back off the bolts till you can make it slip by hand, than tighten up a little evenly around, maybe a turn or too, than when you first start tilling, hopefully it will slip just in normal dirt,[that means it works],than tighten each bolt/nut up a 1/2 turn more, repeat till it don't slip in normal dirt, but would slip if you hit something hard, like a big rock or a tree root or chunk of concrete, cause if it don't slip when its supposed to,you can break your tractor.

Check to see if its got gear oil where its supposed to have gear oil,[two gear boxes].

Looks just like my KK II tiller. Don't forget to put gear oil in the top and left-side and grease the right bearing (after you clean the paint off). Watch out how much grease you put in the right bearing, because it will break the seal if you get too much. Mine did.

I put about 4 pumps of grease in, hope i didnt hurt anything.

When my new CT335 comes in hopefully this week, I will use the tiller on it. I will do the adjustment to the clutch then. Should I adjust it on hard virgin ground or something softer? We do have alot of clay around here in Pa.

I will fill with gear oil tomorrow, says to put in 40oz's on the top and 60oz's on the side. What kind of oil should be used? How often should it be changed? Are there any screens to clean?

Thanks again for all the info

Does it say in your owners manual what kind of gear oil? believe it was thicker than 80-90,there was another thread on here not to long ago about this,we talked about it there,do a search.[seems like it was 140 something?]

Setting that clutch is tricky[if you get it to where it will slip if it needs to],try it in softer stuff first if you can, than just experiment.I know from doing it you don't need it very tight to hold and not slip in looser dirt, hit a stump this spring and that got me to thinking cause it may have slipped, just a little,so backed off the nuts maybe a turn or more, knew it would slip when using it next, and just figured I was going to have to retighten a little,BUT,it didn't slip, would stop and feel it every now and than, cool as could be,so...

Thing is,next spring, you should do it all over again.take it off tiller[drive line] if your storing tiller outside all winter,so's it don't rust shut on you.
