my 624 ih has started sucking the oil from the hydralulics into the trans case causing lose of steering and use of the front end loader any help would be appreciated kirk
If I'm not mistaken you are located in Europe as the 624 was built for that market???? You need to fill in your profile as well. IH hydraulics used to be drvien off the distributor gears. It was not uncommon for the older Farmalls IH tractors to have an O-ring in the pump go, which then bleeds the hydraulic fluid into the crankcase. If you can get a picture of the pump on here it would be easier to diagnose. It's not supposed to be a major fix as the pump is usually held on by just a couple of bolts. Hope this helps. BobG in VA
well bob i am in canada and im having trouble with the oil getting into the trans not the engine i am not sure how this can happen as like you sugjest the pump is mounted on the engine it makes no sence to me kirk
I've not seen a 624 but I understand it is similar to the American 424. If so, the hydraulic reservoir is in the rockshaft housing on top of the transmission. It seems reasonable that a leaking gasket, or maybe plumbing, could allow escaped hydraulic oil to fall into the transmission housing.
