I am looking to purchase by first tractor - a JD2520 with 62D OnRamp mower and material collection system. The dealer tells me that hooking up the MCS drive belt will render the drive-on capability unusable as the belt and its cover require removal of one of the ramps on the deck. Is this true, and if so, is there a workaround?

I have searched through the forum archives and see several references to 62D mowers with MCS, but nothing about the drive-on being affected.

I think your dealer is mistaken, the ramp is replaced after the MCS is installed but I think there may be a new spacer added (there's a spacer under mine in the rear but I don't remember if it was there before the MCS). Since I've got one of the earliest models of the 62D and the MCS was installed shortly afterwords I doubt this was ever a real issue.

After looking at the manual online, I'm unable to find a "drive belt" mentioned anywhere in the manual. Here it is if you care to look it over for yourself, OMLVU18333_D6 , I sure couldn't find anything.

Honestly, I don't see there to be a need for any drive belt to the MCS. Plus, if any kind of "drive" was need, it would make more sense to run it off of the rear PTO. It sounds to me like the dealer is just feeding you some grade A "BS", or he just doesn't know his "stuff". I don't think you will have one problem what so ever with the drive on capability of the deck combined with the MCS. But I could be wrong, this is just my guess as I haven't seen one in person.

I'd give a thought to going to another dealer if this one isn't up to date on his product knowledge.

The MCS has a few components. There are the bags that attach to the hood/frame which gets mounted to the drawbar. There's a tube to the hood that includes an airflow monitor. And there's an impeller that sits at the deck. The impeller is driven off the mower pulleys and helps throw the grass into the catcher. However, as I mentioned above, this extra pulley and drive belt doesn't interfere with the ramp and they fit under it just fine.

I knew that it had the bagger components and all, but when looking at the manual I couldn't find anything about the impeller. Some dealers, ya know.

Thanks for the feedback - it is most helpful. I don't think the dealer it trying anything on - he said they sell few of the MCS attachments and he was not positive as to what he told me, but was going to follow up with JD to clarify - I figured (correctly!) that the answer could be gotten a bit quicker here.

I couldn't find anything about the impeller.

The manual you link didn't cover the PowerFlow unit for some reason. You can see a picture of it if you click on "Removing Power Flow Chute", but there isn't a very good description. A quick search doesn't turn up a PowerFlow for the 62D, but here's a link to one for a 60D which may give you a bit of an idea how it gets installed:

If you or your dealer need pictures I'd be happy to provide some.
