Hey guys, got a 1964 Ford 2000 that's overheating. This tractor has the horizontal muffler with the tailpipe that wraps down underneath the tractor and comes out the back. I ran up on a stump and bent the crap out of the tailpipe. I straightened it out as best as possible, but I ended up with a torn belt in all the mess. So I replaced the belt. Not too long after the tractor started overheating. I have flushed the cooling system with a chemical product. Replaced the thermostat, which was completely shot. And it's still overheating. I'm wondering if it's possible that the bent tailpipe might be causing this? If it's not doing a good job allowing the exhaust to pass through it, maybe it's causing the engine to overheat? Next time I'm out at the farm I'm going to tighten the belt and check for bubbles and flow in the radiator as I've read in other threads to rule out the head gasket and water pump. I will say when I did the flush I turned the fan backwards and coolant ran out the bottom hose, which I thought to mean the pump was working to some extent. In the meantime I was wondering about the exhaust.
