6x4 gator , STEEP hills, roll overs? dual wheels and leg room?

Hey all,

I am just about to go onto a farm with massively steeps hills, i saw some hill side italian tractors but start at $60k australian $. so i figure the gator is the next safest? I was thinking of getting the 4 rear wheels as dual wheels from clic wheels. So the extra wheels should give me some good width. Im not into using it for anything else but farming.
So my questions are.

Has anyone seen one roll? Flip?
Anyone come close to flipping it?
How steep have you gone sideways to a hill?
Does anyone know what the angle limits of roll over are? Without the dual wheels?
How do you think the dual wheels will go?
Im 6.1 and wondering about the leg room?

I have been using a 6x4 diesel on very steep fields and forest trails since 2001. I haul heavy loads regularly, both in the gator and behind it in a 2-axle trailer. Rollover has never been a concern- the gator's center of gravity is VERY low. The big problem is descending steep hills with a lot of weight. The snowmobile-style clutch is terrible for its tendency to freewheel, so steep descents are a ballet maneuver with one foot on the accelerator and the other on the brake. That said, the machine is very tough and reliable. Leg room has never been an issue for our family, which varies from 5'5 to 6'.

The 6 wheel gators turn poorly compared to a 4 wheeler. IDK if the extra wheels give any rollover protection but I would doubt that it helps in most situations.

Oh Well it happened. Rolled the gator. I bought the 6x4 and love it. But just want to report that i rolled it, i have a cab on it and if not for that id be dead. Ended up with fractured l1-l4 8-12 weeks to recover.

Oh no!! I was just searching for this exact info. Now that you have hopefully recovered, could you tell us what happened? Were you driving across the slope? What angle do you think it was? Thanks. Sorry to hear about your injury.

Hi. When i finally went back on the gator it actually had 2 flat tyres, because the gator is 6 wheeler you can have a flat tyre without even knowing , you can actually drive it with 2 wheels off. But that was my downfall. Right rear and middle left tyre were flat. I was sideways on a slope, been down there so many times. After the accident its really scared the **** out of me and now i drive it like a grandpa. Before that i can't believe the places i went in it. So i now have sensors on the tyres that tell me when a tyre is flat.
